Meet The Team

Pastor - Gordon Weir

Pastor - Gordon Weir

Gordon has been the Pastor at KBC since April 2022. Married to Alli, with three children and four grandchildren, Gordon is a Doonhamer (a native of Dumfries!) He has previously served in churches in Cheshire, Fife, north-east England and Ayrshire. He is passionate about teaching the Bible in a way that it can be understood, so that it is just as practical on a Monday morning in ‘real life’ as it is on Sunday in church. He is a self-confessed golf nut, but doesn’t play nearly as much as he would like to! He tries to slip in as many U2 song references into his sermons as he can get away with, and takes great pride in Queen of the South being the only football team mentioned in the Bible. Gordon says, “my mission in life is twofold – to serve God and to serve His people.”
Administrator - Elaine Jeff

Administrator - Elaine Jeff

Elaine was born in Birmingham and moved to Rhyl in 1983 with her parents. She first attended KBC in 1997, when both her daughters were still young. She has been a part of KBC since then. Elaine was baptised in 1999, in the old church which is now Little Lambs Nursery. She is an Aston Villa fan and is well known for her love of coffee. Elaine has been volunteering at foodbank since it opened in 2013 and is passionate about helping people. She became the church administrator in December 2016. Elaine says her aim is to help people and to let them know they are not alone.
Children

Children & Families Worker - Joanne Matthews

Jo has been KBC's Children and Families worker for about 10 years. She has lived in Kinmel Bay (or very near to) for 30 years! and raised her 3 children here. She is passionate about supporting families, encouraging children and serving the local community. She loves to travel, visiting her daughter in Japan and the missions KBC supports around the world, especially Moldova. To relax she will visit friends, go paddleboarding (not very well), canoeing, walking or hide away with a good book. Jo's mission in life is to show the love of Jesus in all she does and to all she meets, and to introduce others to the one who gave her life in all its fullness.
Pastoral Worker - Alli Weir

Pastoral Worker - Alli Weir

Alli came to KBC with Gordon in April 2022, and joined the staff team in April 2023, where she supports the Pastoral Care Team ministry visiting and supporting women from the KBC family. She is also involved in the Toddler Group and Manna Cafe, reaching out to the local community.
She enjoys various craft activities, but her love is spending time with her 3 children and 4 grandchildren, who are spread around the UK.
Assistant Pastor - Conor Mathieson

Assistant Pastor - Conor Mathieson

I am Conor Mathieson and have recently been blessed with the opportunity to serve the church as Assistant Pastor. I am married to Natalie, and I have 2 sons, Lucas and Theo, and we have a sausage dog called Hosanna. Natalie has a daughter, Brittany, and we all live in Rhyl.
Natalie and I come from a background of addiction. By the grace of God, we have been set free from the symptoms of the illness. I was invited to Kinmel Bay Church in 2019 by one of my closest friends, and I couldn’t think of an honest answer to say no! I gave my life to the Lord straight after the service, and have been worshipping at KBC ever since. We have shared many a happy occasion with my church family, including our baptisms, and we were married here in 2021.
Part of my role is to oversee the youth (11-18-year-olds) and Evangelism. Natalie and I run a recovery group in Rhyl called Archway Recovery. God has blessed us with a committed volunteer team, and He works through us and enables us to help, support and guide those who are still trapped in the chains of addiction and their families.
When I am not in church, I spend time with Natalie and the boys, we all love to watch Man Utd!
