From The Pastor’s Desk

“Honour God with everything you own; give him the first and the best. Your barns will burst, your wine vats will brim over.”                            (Proverbs 3:9-10, The Message)

It’s all too easy to compartmentalise life, isn’t it? Work is contained within certain days and hours. Family time takes place around the table or the telly. Leisure or hobbies have their place and can demand time. And, if we’re not careful, we can place God in a faith-shaped box, brought out only on Sundays and other ‘special’ occasions.

God cannot be contained in this way. He demands ALL OF LIFE. He wants to be central in our work practices, our families, even our hobbies and pastimes. It is when we truly worship Him with all of our hearts and minds and souls that He takes delight. As Eric Liddell      famously said, “I feel His pleasure when I run.”

You may not be a runner, but you can feel His pleasure in the ordinariness of life today.

  • Ladies event Friday 2nd October (more details to follow)
  • At the recent BBC, I spoke about ‘what’s next, following the recent building work. I highlighted that the purpose of the building being reshaped was to accommodate recent growth and to prepare for more. So please see the attached flier showing nine ways we are to grow biblically. Use it to pray for your own growth and for the growth of KBC as the Lord wills.
  • Alli and I would value your prayers this week as we travel north. I am teaching a church weekend in Arbroath (home of the smokies!). Please pray for safe travel and also for power and clarity as I teach on the Promises of God over four sessions.

Every blessing

Your pastor
